Parish and School Human Resource Manager
The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has an opportunity for a proactive and responsive HR professional to join the Parish and School HR team.
The HR Manager provides human resource support services, consultation, and guidance to the parishes and schools (elementary, secondary, and high school) within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The focus of consulting/coaching is on compliance with employment laws and application of respective policies and procedures specific to each location. In addition, the HR Manager is proactive in building local human resource capability via classroom, virtual, and field training.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to problem solve, provide guidance and coaching, and be knowledgeable in all areas of HR, especially employment law and employee relations.
Responsibilities
•Assist pastors, parish directors, and principals in problem-solving employment issues.
•Provide expertise and resources to parish and school leadership in recruitment, employment contracts, retention, policy development, employee handbooks, performance management, and teacher compensation.
•Provide training in areas of employment law, Archdiocesan guidelines, and Catholic social teachings.
•Maintain best practice HR documentation of consultative interactions.
•Update annual employee handbook template, and participates in policy review committee.
•Provide supportive leadership of HR Coordinator and HR Consultant.
Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, business, or a related discipline is required.
•Professional certification through HRCI (PHR/SPHR) or SHRM (SHRM-CP) preferred.
•Five to seven years of work experience in the HR field, including proven employee relations experience.
•Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with employment law.
•Experience working in schools or non-profit organizations preferred.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
•Practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred.
•Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church preferred.
•Strong commitment to confidentiality.
•Must possess a valid drivers license.
Compensation and Benefits
The position is a full-time, salaried position working in-person at the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Pastoral Center. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee provides a full-scope of employment benefits, including health and wellness, flex-time, Catholic school tuition assistance for children of employees, and a pension program. Occasional weekend and evening assignments and occasional travel throughout the archdiocese are required.
