WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are searching for an experienced HR leader to join as the inaugural Director of Human Resources and the Employee Experience.
As an Archdiocesan high school, BBHS functions under Archdiocesan policies and Human Resources services. In the Director of Human Resources role, you will closely collaborate with the Archdiocesan HR Department and the Office for Catholic Schools to coordinate services and ensure compliance in guiding and informing the leadership decisions of Bishop Blanchet High School.
You will be responsible for directing, planning, and implementing activities and programs associated with the employee lifecycle, policy and compliance, professional development on HR related topics and benefits/compensation benchmarking. As such you will be responsible for:
Hiring
Onboarding new employees (employment records, onboarding guides and updating internal databases)
Employee relations
Policy development and administration
Legal compliance and recordkeeping
Maintenance of personnel records, employee data and HR documents
Overseeing background checks and the Safe Environment training program.
Advising supervisors in managing performance, disciplinary actions, and employee relations issues
Presenting to different constituencies (ie. administration, faculty, staff or the Board) on HR topics such as hiring, onboarding, pre-employment screening and training, compensation and benefits, professional development, employee relations issues, etc.
Collaborating with President, Principal, Administration and staff on workforce issues such as performance reviews, covenant renewals, ongoing management
Tracking and reporting - maintaining records of PTO and supporting the management of employee leaves (maternity, paternity, short term and long term disability, etc.)
Collaborating with school leadership to improve and develop policies and practices that support the attraction and retention of employees (faculty, staff, administration and other) that align to our mission and values
Developing relationships with other educational institutions in the area, as needed, to help attract and retain faculty and staff
Creating and delivering professional development training for staff and faculty around compliance or HR related topics as well as management skill training relating to managing others, providing feedback, having career conversations, or managing performance issues/handling sensitive or disciplinary situations
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with HR professionals in similar roles
Staying abreast of current issues and trends related to human resources and private school HR issues and opportunities
Managing exit interview/survey process and interpreting results
Supervising the Human Resources Assistant/Substitute Teachers Coordinator
As Director of Human Resources and the Employee Experience you will work closely with the Director of Finance to support and implement several HR processes and programs including:
Benefit enrollment and administration
Conducting compensation and benefit benchmarking studies and recommending appropriate adjustments to school leadership
Annual covenant/work agreement
Staff reviews
You will be the first and key point of contact for queries from administration, staff, faculty and contract employees on HR issues, questions, and situations.
You will need to facilitate and direct the employee grievance process and conduct workplace investigations as needed, while advising stakeholders on legal and other issues.
You will also partner with school leadership to ensure regular employee engagement and communications and actively contribute to a workplace culture of inclusion and respect.

WE MIGHT BE A GREAT MATCH IF YOU HAVE THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
8-10 years progressively responsible experience in human resources management and leadership in education and/or non-profit organization, ideally in an educational setting (Catholic, private or independent school setting is ideal; related experience outside of an educational setting will be considered)
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a relevant field is required; a master's degree in a related field is preferred
Active faith life and practicing Catholic preferred

Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborative effectively with staff at all levels

Extensive knowledge of contract administration, negotiations, and employee handbook development
Understanding of state and federal regulations such as FERPA, FMLA, FLSA, HIPPA and other state and federal regulations associated with HR management.
Understanding of the health insurance field
Leadership skills including visioning, active listening, coaching, facilitation, and using data for decision making
Time and project management skills Google suite proficiency. Microsoft Office proficiency - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. An ability to make effective use of HR technological tools
Thorough knowledge of school operations
Excellent written and oral communication skills
PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification highly desirable
