PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR - Full Time/35 hours per week (Start date: Aug 15)

The Preschool Director will work collaboratively with the MQP Pastor and JDP Preschool Staff to create a dynamic, engaging learning environment balanced in play, academics, spiritual growth, and social-emotional development, for up to 80 children ages 2-5 years old,. The Preschool Director ensures the successful development and implementation of a Catholic, developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum by creating and maintaining quality educational programing.
Bachelor's Degree in Education, with a focus in Elementary or Early Childhood Education (Valid Washington State teaching certificate with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education preferred)
Minimum three years of professional teaching and/or educational administrative experience in an early childhood setting
Experience working in a management or leadership position
Outstanding customer service skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and manage multiple situations effectively
Ability to build positive interpersonal relationships with children, families and staff
Demonstrated understanding of successful, varied instructional strategies and ongoing assessments with diverse student populations
Proficient in use of MS Office
Desire a practicing Catholic, and a leader in evangelizing the faith in appropriate ways to children and families
OPERATIONS: Provides day to day site management during site hours of operations. Constitutes and upholds program standards setting an example by consistently modeling professional leadership.
CURRICULUM: Oversees curriculum development and programing, ensures execution of high quality developmentally appropriate activities and assessment of children's development based on quality standards and preschool programing.
POLICIES/SAFETY: Creates school policies to reflect the needs and safety of the children, staff, families, and parish. Ensures compliance with and has knowledge of WA state health and safety requirements, CDC, Health Department and Archdiocese guidelines. Works collaboratively with building maintenance to ensure safety and health of all classrooms and preschool areas inside and outside the school building.
STAFF: Supervises all staff to include recruitment, hiring, onboarding, coaching, training, and performance evaluation - along with termination as appropriate. Strives to create a healthy team culture. Communicates issues and uses conflict resolution when appropriate. Clearly communicates preschool standards, guidelines, and policies to all staff through the JDP Staff Handbook, which is updated and revised as needed. Leads monthly scheduled staff meetings, creating staff agendas and updating information following the meetings. Schedules CPR and first aid training for all staff and maintains training records. Creates opportunities for staff development and works to create an environment where staff feels appreciated and valued.
TEACH: Assists with finding substitute teachers if needed. At times may be called upon to assist in the classroom.
STAFF ASSESSMENT: Provides formal evaluation of teaching staff through goal setting, conducting mid-year reviews and end of year reviews to ensure for a high-quality program. Plans and supports the development of individual skills and abilities. Performs informal classroom observations, providing appropriate feedback and coaching when needed.
STUDENT CONCERNS: Manages all teacher and family concerns, checking in daily with staff and interacting/welcoming parents. Supports teachers in their communication with families and attends meetings if needed. Evaluates a teacher concern in relation to a student and his/her development. Manages students records to include all intake paperwork as well as progress reports.
FAMILIES: Works collaboratively with families and preschool community to meet the needs of all students. Understands the diversity within and across cultures and provides an inclusive welcoming, respectful environment. Creates, maintains, updates, and communicates parent handbook to all families to maintain policies and rules of preschool. Supports families if additional resources are needed to help with a child's development.
SCHEDULING: Schedules, oversees and manages all preschool-wide events to include parties, gatherings and in-school field trips. Plans and manages school calendar, coordinating with parish administration and building scheduling.
GROWTH/MARKETING: Continually evaluates the program to attract new participants through community outreach (advertising, preschool fair). Develops marketing materials and maintains public relations with other preschool directors and organizations. Creates social media content, maintains and updates the website, contributes content to the MQP church bulletins and communication. Manages all aspects of enrollment to include advertising, tours, and waitlist management. Tours and communicates with all interested and prospective families.
BUDGET: Develops and manages the school budget for the calendar year, to include achieving enrollment, managing expenses, and monthly reporting on the budget. Promptly addresses any issues with financial performance, maintains accurate enrollment and financial records. Manages monthly and yearly tuition payments for all preschool families. Manages monthly and yearly individual classroom budgets for teachers. Continually seeks ways to manage and reduce expenses without sacrificing the quality or service, balancing profitability with priorities related to staff, children and families.
MQP STAFF MEMBER: As a member of the MQP Pastoral Staff, attends all Pastoral and MQP Staff meetings, contributing and collaborating with MQP Staff.
