We are seeking a positive and enthusiastic Financial Aid Coordinator who loves streamlining processes and working as part of a team to support students. The Financial Aid Coordinator is a professional position responsible for supporting financial aid services to students of DMU. Financial Aid services include advising and counseling students about financial aid alternatives available to finance their education, providing students with consumer information, as required by federal regulations, develop written policies and procedures about the way the school administers Title IV programs according to federal and state regulations and make financial aid awards to students. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid.
Requirements
Advise and counsel students about financial aid alternatives available to finance their education.
Provide students with consumer information, as required by federal regulations.
Assist in the development of written policies and procedures about the way the school administers Title IV programs according to federal and state regulations.
Assist in the administration of the university's participation in Federal Financial Aid programs, such as Title IV student loan and work-study programs.
Coordinate financial aid activities with those of other offices (i.e., Business Office, Faculty, Admissions, Registrar's Office, etc.) - Weekly Stitch Meeting
Interact with various outside groups, agencies, associations, and individuals about issues concerning the school's administration of financial aid programs.
Identify and develop proposals for securing alternative funding strategies for federal (e.g., fellowships, loans, etc.), state (e.g. VTAG), private (e.g., grants, scholarships, etc.), and institutional aid (e.g., endowments, scholarships, etc.) for students.
Assist in the maintenance, development, and implementation of procedures to report changes to DofE about the University's current eligibility status.
Perform other tasks consistent with this job description as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Bachelor's Degree
1-2 Years of prior Financial Aid experience in Higher Education
Preferred:
SIS and CRM experience
