Director of Religious Education and Youth Ministry

St. Rita Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA is seeking a faithful Catholic to fill the role of Director of Youth Ministry (DYM) and Director of Religious Education (DRE). This combined position will require someone with good organizational skills and a dynamic personality to accomplish the various aspects of the job.

Candidate will work with the pastor to ensure the best possible approach to Youth Ministry and Religious Education. DYM Responsibilities include coordinating youth ministry meetings for high schoolers and middle schoolers, retreats, special events (e.g. WorkCamp), and volunteers. DRE responsibilities include coordinating weekly Religious Education classes, recruiting, training, and supporting catechists, First Communion and Confirmation preparation and planning, and coordinating the Homeschool Atrium program. Days and hours will vary, but 40 hours with 2-3 evenings each week (including Sunday night youth ministry) should be expected.

A competitive candidate for this position will be a practicing Catholic in good standing, able to work well with people of all ages, especially youth, and will have a strong working knowledge of the Catholic Faith. Spanish language ability is preferred.

Candidates must have at least a Bachelor's Degree and be familiar with MS Office (esp. Word and Excel). Candidates without a Master Catechists Certification will need to begin working towards obtaining one.
