After-School Program Director

Job Summary:
The Extended Day program director manages programs outside of school hours for children. The director works closely with the school Principal to provide an enriching and educationally sound experience. The director develops the structure of the program based on the needs and interests of the students and their parents, manages the program staff and operations, and maintains relationships with the community. The director works with the program staff to develop an appropriate curriculum and plan activities that are consistent with the mission of the program.

The director shall be of good character, able to carry out responsibilities, and capable of training and supervising the staff. Effective communication both written and oral are important. The director also performs performance evaluations and develops professional development plans for the staff to ensure the program maintains a high level of quality.

Qualifications:
The director is in charge of overseeing the program and must meet one of the following: an academic degree in a child-related field or two years of related experience with one year in a staff supervisory capacity.
