Digital Content Intern
This is a paid, internship of 30-35 hours a week with a tentative start date of May and ending in August (dates TBD). This position will be based onsite in the Arlington, VA.
The Digital Content Intern's primary function is to assist the Office of Communications with the creation of compelling content for use across digital media - including website and email communications, and social media. Throughout the course of the internship, the Digital Content Intern will have the opportunity to grow skills in graphic design, video production and post-production, photo editing and optimization, drafting copy, and more.
Duties include but are not limited to:
•Creating campaign-specific content for liturgical seasons, feast days, and other communication priorities
•Designing web-optimized graphics and other visuals for events, news, and milestones
•Brainstorming and facilitating creative ideas for Instagram reels, stories, and guides
•Exploring creative solutions to incorporating more motion graphics to the media mix
•Assisting the media team with production needs including podcasting, filming & photography
•Managing and cataloguing digital assets, including photo, video, and audio files
This position is overseen by the Chief Communications Officer with day-to-day management by the Digital & Social Media Manager. Formal direction meetings will take place on a weekly or greater basis. Interaction with most members of the communications team and other chancery staff will occur daily.
•Rising sophomore level in college studying communications or marketing preferred
•Must have strong graphics design skills and knack for creating compelling visual content
•Prior experience in Adobe products and Canva preferred
•Prior experience in social media (especially Instagram) preferred
•Prior experience in digital animation preferred
•Must have excellent written and oral communication abilities
•Must, with a proven ability to work independently within a team environment
•Must have grounding in the Catholic faith and the desire and ability to promote the mission and the faith
•Preference given to residents of Diocese
