Job Description
The Basilica School of Saint Mary, a Catholic Pre-K through eight Parish School in Alexandria, Virginia, is seeking an Educational Technology Specialist for the 2023-2024 School year. The Basilica School is committed to implementing a program of technology education that is well integrated into the regular classroom, providing specialized classes in technology instruction for those students who desire more in-depth learning, training our teachers to use technology effectively for instruction in the classroom, and assisting our students in becoming virtuous digital citizens. The Technology Specialist will direct the development of our technology curriculum, aid teachers in implementing instructional technology, instruct specialized technology classes, and develop project-based technology learning for our new Maker Space. Qualified candidates will fully embrace the mission of our Catholic school, which recognizes the infinite value of each student, seeks to develop the gifts of all, and nurtures them to be saints, stewards, and scholars, always with an eye to their eternal destiny. Ideal candidates will hold a Master's degree, hold or be willing to work towards certification, and have valuable instructional experiences.
Qualifications Include
A desire to embrace the mission of Catholic education;
A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (Master's degree preferred);
Familiarity with or ability to learn about technology that best impacts classroom learning;
Ability to mentor and guide faculty in the implementation of effective technology integration in classroom instruction;
Knowledge of and ability to teach fundamental coding, robotics, and graphic arts;
Ability to creatively direct the development of technology instruction at the primary, elementary, and middle school level;
