Saint Bernadette Church and School is a vibrant parish community of 4,000 families with 470 students in a two-track parish school for Pre-K through 8th grade. We are seeking a joyful, talented and dedicated principal who can inspire and lead the excellent faculty and staff of this 63 year old school toward an even greater future in Catholic education.
Our next principal will actively collaborate with the pastor and our experienced administrative team -- including our assistant principal, curriculum coordinator, registrar, business manager, our team of learning resources professionals, and extended day program staff.
A practicing Catholic, the principal will be expected to lead by personal witness to the Catholic faith, and exhibit passion and compassion in articulating the mission of Saint Bernadette School and Parish, as one, to students, parents, staff and community.
Skills in using technology as a communication and educational tool, the willingness and background to work in advancement and development, and consistent support of parish and school events are important attributes expected in the new principal.
Applicants must have a minimum of five years teaching experience in Catholic schools. Previous experience as a principal is preferred. Applicants must also hold a master's degree in School Administration from an accredited university approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia or a master's degree in another academic area and completion of the following graduate courses: School Law, Evaluation of Instruction and Curriculum, Special Education, School Finance and Educational Leadership from a state approved program and successful completion of the School Leadership Assessment (SLA). The courses and assessment must be completed within three years of being hired. Candidates must also hold appropriate Virginia Administration and Supervision Certification or be eligible to obtain this certification within three years of hire. Finally, applicants must hold Basic Diocesan Religion Certification or be eligible to obtain this certification within three years of hire.
This position is available for the 2023-24 school year. Salary will be competitive and negotiable, depending on the qualifications and experience.
