In collaboration with the Pastor, the Director of Youth Ministry, and Director of Young Adult Ministry, the Program Assistant for Y/YA will assist the directors as needed with on-site programming, administrative support and the management of all Y/YA initiatives. A typical week will be about 10 hours remote and 15 hours in person.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
On-site Ministry Support (about 15 hours per week)
-The goal for all on-site gatherings is for the Program Assistant to engage in meaningful relational ministry with Nativity's youth and young adults. For Youth Ministry, the Program Assistant will mainly support and expand the Middle School Edge program. For Young Adult Ministry, the Program Assistant will support opportunities for young adults in their 20s and 30s as well as families with young children.
Expectations for a typical month supporting parish ministries in-person:
-One Thursday evening a month to support Young Adult Basketball and also Young Adult small groups.
-One Sunday afternoon and one Friday evening to support Middle School Edge program
-One Saturday morning to support Young Family Ministry, where families with young children meet for community-building and prayer
-One Sunday morning every other month to support a gathering for families who recently had their children Baptized
-As special parish events arise, the in-person responsibilities will be modified as needed to provide a balanced schedule for the Program Assistant (ex: service learning camp for middle schoolers or international immersion for college students)
-Capture photographs of the ministries to maintain relevant and up-to-date advertisements and invitations.
-Join the Director of Youth Ministry if hours allow for quarterly ministry formation sponsored by the Diocese of Arlington.
Remote Administrative Tasks (about 10 hours per week):
-Assists the directors with administrative management of all Y/YA ministry programs.
-Works collaboratively with the directors (including the Director of Social Media to maintain brand consistency) to manage all communication streams, including registrations, Flocknote (email/texting platform), Instagram, parish website, advertisement, bulletin updates, etc.
-Assists the directors with ministry-related purchases and reimbursements.
Skills and Qualifications:
-Demonstrated experience in related field or Bachelor's degree preferred
-Experience in parish ministry preferred
-Time management
-Passion for evangelization
-Ability to work collaboratively and creatively on a team
-Ability to manage and complete multiple projects concurrently
-Adaptability and openness to learning new skills
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-Ability to represent and give witness to the joy of living out the Catholic faith
-Ability to lift 50lbs for setup and cleanup of events as needed
