Special Education Teacher - Expanded Services

Bishop O'Connell is seeking a special education teacher for the 2023 - 2024 school year to work with students receiving expanded services. A degree in special education and teaching experience in special education are preferred. This teacher will work with students with disabilities to include intellectual disabilities, emotional and significant learning disabilities teaching small group classes of students with academic abilities ranging from 1st through 6th grade. Responsibilities will include teaching small group reading classes, utilizing specific methodology. Training will be provided with ongoing support throughout the first year. The successful candidate should be adept at utilizing multiple methods of instruction to include scaffolding, digital technology and visual aids. The candidate's strengths should include interpersonal skills, flexibility, and collaboration. All teachers on the expanded services team modify curriculum and work with peer mentors to support inclusion. Teachers also provide support during school day events and flexible instructional time to further social and emotional development of all students.
