    SUMMARY: Maintain a safe, clean, and accessible shelter environment for adults experiencing homelessness by employing trauma-informed, client-centered service.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    Engage in nightly operations:

    Participate in nightly team meetings to plan each team member's station, review procedures, and develop individualized service plans for clients with high service needs.
    Become fully knowledgeable of shelter policies and procedures to answer client questions and ensure policies are followed.
    Develop a working knowledge of homeless services and other supportive services in the community and be able to answer client questions.
    Set up and prepare sleeping and dining areas for clients prior to shelter opening.
    Clean sleeping and dining areas as needed throughout the shift and fully sanitize areas after shelter closes.
    Support Lead Monitors at the check-in desk by passing out blankets, face masks, shelter policies, etc. and maintaining the check-in line.
    Follow food safety guidelines to serve pre-packaged meals and water.
    Restock paper products and hygiene supplies throughout shift. Monitor trash bins, taking full trash bags to dumpster as needed.
    Monitor sleeping areas, dining area, hallways, and restrooms, ensuring staff and client safety.
    Coordinate with community partners, such as behavioral health teams and church feeding programs, that come to the shelter to deliver supportive services.
    Utilize a basic knowledge of email and Microsoft Office applications.
    Deliver quality client service:

    Deliver trauma-informed client care, being inclusive and supportive.
    Use de-escalation methods to diffuse potentially disruptive situations.
    Develop rapport with clients, learn about their needs, and collaborate with shelter and outreach staff to create supportive shelter and housing plans.
    Represent the Agency in the community and workplace in a professional and ethical manner.
    Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, and verbal skills.
    Follow health, safety, and sanitation protocols:

    Respond to client requests for medical/mental health services.
    Collaborate with on-site security team and/or local law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of staff and clients.
    Follow and enforce Virginia Department of Health guidelines to prevent the spread of viruses within the shelter.
    Complete required safety trainings, including substance use, overdose prevention, and mental health emergencies.
    SHIFTS: Shifts are evening and overnight, ranging 7 - 10 hours. Shifts occur between 4:00 pm and 9:30 am.

    High School diploma or GED,
