SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the direct supervision and development of the interpreter services program in all applicable service areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Provide supervision and evaluation and interpreter services staff.
Develop and implement service standards, goals, and objectives in assigned program locations.
Promote staff professional growth.
Facilitate interpreter services program staff meetings and schedule individual supervision on a regular basis.
Attend and participate in all other appropriate staff meetings, community meetings, and conferences as required.
Administer program budget and ensure program operates consistently within established budget
Communicate regularly with Director to ensure program, Agency, grants, budgets, and personnel requirements are accomplished
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports as required.
Recruit and screen for qualified interpreters.
Provide orientation and guidelines for interpreting.
Develop, evaluate, and update testing and training materials for interpreters.
Develop and maintain a pool of testers for different languages.
Provide initial and follow-up training to develop interpreter skills.
Maintain and update database of available interpreters.
Periodically evaluate interpreters' performance.
Market Interpreter and Translation Services to agencies in the community.
Promote language bank through development of educational materials and programs on Title VI compliance.
Negotiate and secure contracts for Interpretation Services with agencies in the community where possible.
Develop and maintain system of notification, confirmation, evaluation and invoicing of job requests.
Respond to requests for interpretation in a timely and professional manner.
Review and updates fee schedule to remain competitive in the community as needed.
Develop and conduct training for staff, employers, and community groups on the effective use of interpreters.
Develop an evaluation tool and conduct customer satisfaction inquiries and modify the program as necessary.
Serve as primary liaison between the agency, client, and interpreters.
Schedule interpreter assignments.
Represents the Agency in the community and workplace in a professional and ethical manner.
Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral, and written skills.
Utilizes a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree required with four years of experience. One year of supervisory experience is required.
