The Director of Life Stage Ministries is responsible for the parish catechetical programs and provides leadership to the community of St. Patrick in building and supporting a solid foundation of religious education programs, ministries and services for all ages. The Director is called to be first and foremost a person of Faith, supportive of the teachings of the Catholic Church, whose every effort is directed to furthering the ultimate mission of the St. Patrick Catholic Community "seeking to know, love, serve God and our neighbor." The Director of Life Stage Ministries oversees the Life Stage Ministry program staff, catechists and volunteers that are responsible for the Parish Evangelization, Parish Based Ministry Organizations, Youth/Young Adult Ministry, Children's Religious Education, Sacramental preparation, including the Rite of Christian Initiation for adults and youth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
Position Requirements
Participates in decision-making regarding the parish direction and activities for all faith formation and catechesis, including discussions with the parish school regarding its catechetical approaches.
Provides leadership and support to assist the parish-based ministry organizations and programs to further support the parish mission as a "...diverse, welcoming Roman Catholic Community, seeking to know, love, and serve God and our neighbor."
Supervises religious education and sacramental preparation programs.
Evaluates the ministry effectiveness of the Life Stage Ministry Staff and program management.
Approves and coordinates the various curricula for preschool to high school, working collaboratively with the staff to provide resources (textbooks, liturgical materials, videos, subscription programs (such. As EDGE and Life Teen).
Develops, articulates, and administers the vision and direction for the parish catechetical programs to staff and the parish community.
Contributes to creating an attitude of hospitality and volunteerism in the parish including recruiting, training, providing orientation and formation for Catechists and support staff.
Cooperates with Faith Formation leaders in the Diocese and other parishes in developing and maintaining training for catechists.
Serves as needed with the RCIA coordinator for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
Prepare and manage the Life Stage Ministry Program's annual budget.
Any other duties assigned by the Pastor or Director of Operations.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong organization and Communication skills.
Experience with Cloud Data-Based Management programs.
Microsoft 365, Flocknote and Teams Meeting Software programs.
Demonstrate competence in theology, catechesis, program coordination, supervision and catechist development.
Lead with a servant's heart in relating to parish families and volunteers.
A willingness to recognize, honor and work with diversity in our parish community.
Able to lead a multi-task environment and staff.
Weekend availability required.
Certification in Catechetical Ministry required.
Education and Experience:
College degree with a background in education preferred.
Experience with Diocesan and Canon Law requirements regarding Religious Education.
