ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

We need you, an Assistant Principal, to support the learning environment for our school and enhance the educational, physical, and spiritual development of students at SLCS.
Anticipated position start date: June 2023 or sooner if a determined candidate is available for employment.
As an Assistant Principal, you are good at:
Fulfilling the mission of the Catholic school by working with the principal in the management of the school, faculty, staff, and students with an emphasis on campus climate and student discipline. This position reports to and is evaluated by the principal.
Your essentials are:
Supports and assists with the responsibilities of the principal
Serves as the principal in the principal's absence
Assists in the general administration of the school
Supports the communication, training, and supervision of the faculty and staff, i.e., direct supervision of the athletic director, counseling/academic support programs, religious education coordinator and extended care program
Assists in planning for staff development, horizontal and vertical alignment, curriculum assessment, educational textbooks and materials, and student testing
Carries out the disciplinary policies of the school
Integrates the virtue program in the culture and discipline of the school (anti-bullying/class meetings)
Maintains the substitute program
Interprets and enforces school policies
Supervises after school care programs
Assists with faculty and other meetings
Important job functions:
Collaborates with peers to enhance the work environment and support instructional planning
Monitors students regarding tardiness, absences, and those on academic probation
Oversees faculty, staff, and volunteer committees, as assigned
Observes and evaluates instruction and provides constructive feedback on performance
Supports the referral process for student evaluation within the public school system

Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
Education/Certification:
Master's degree in Administration or
Master's degree plus 18 hours in educational administration and supervision courses or a valid, appropriate state certificate for a principal or the successful completion of an appropriate state certification examination, as outlined in the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department standards
Substitution to the above education requirement: evidence that the person is enrolled in a program to: (i) obtain a Master's degree; and (ii) to complete the required 18 credit hours in educational administration and supervision courses or obtain the required Principal Certificate.
Additional Experience, Certifications, or Training:
Has successful teaching experience in the classroom
Valid Texas driver's license
Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
Must meet staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese and school administration.
Must complete Religion Certification Part 1 within two years of the date of hire, completing a minimum of 25 hours each year.

Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
Working on weekends, evenings, and some holidays may be required.
Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
All buildings and vehicles owned by the school are tobacco-free.
Must maintain a work schedule that maximizes availability to students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
