    Coordinator of Youth Ministry

    Description

    Under the supervision of the Director of Formation, this full-time position collaborates with the formation team, parents and volunteers to engage, evangelize, and catechize the middle and high school youth, building appropriate relationships and leading them to become active, lifelong disciples of Christ. This position plans, manages, and leads weekly formation programs for our Middle School and High School youth programs, service opportunities, retreats, and other events that help teens grow in their lived faith and create a community of faith among the teens. This position also coordinates the sacrament of confirmation for all youth, providing planning, catechesis, and mentorship.

    Principal Accountabilities:
    Provides opportunities and encouragement to build a community of faith among the teens, their parents, and the volunteers.
    Implements and leads the development of sound evangelization and catechetical curriculums in evangelization, catechesis, doctrine, liturgy and sacraments, moral life and prayer for youth that have been approved by the Diocese and developed/selected in conjunction with the Director of Formation. (Specifically responsible for students in grades 7th -12th.)
    Develops other year-round engaging evangelical and catechetical events for youth including but not limited to retreats, conferences, service projects, pilgrimages, Diocesan youth events, Bible studies, and small discipleship groups, including accommodations for youth with special needs.
    Establishes collaborative relationships with parents and families, keeping them informed of Diocesan youth events, social service, and retreat opportunities through parish communication channels, including social media.
    Plans, develops, and implements sacramental preparation of youth eligible for confirmation to receive the sacrament.
    Collaborates with the formation team for development and implementation of a vision for the department, yearly and monthly planning, use of space, student registration process, and other events.
    Invites, motivates, evaluates, provides, and promotes faith formation of small group leaders, confirmation catechists, youth, and adult leaders to serve in youth ministry programs.
    Develops, promotes, and maintains social media platforms to engage and evangelize the youth.
    Maintains records and manages all diocesan paperwork and database requirements for the record of student enrollment and attendance, adult volunteers, safe environment requirements, and the sacrament of confirmation.
    Ensures necessary administrative requirements are followed, including but not limited to parental consent, safe environment, activity reporting and analysis, and budget management.
    Continues professional development through ongoing study, education, workshops, etc.

    Education and Experience Preferred:
    Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, serving as a humble model of what a living witness to the Gospel should be.
    Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Catechesis, Youth Ministry, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field of study from an accredited Catholic college or university is preferred, but not required.
    Associate degree or vocational/technical school degree or certification is required.
    Graduate of the St. Junipero Serra Institute, St. Francis de Sales Catechetical Formation Program, or similar diocesan formation program is desirable.
    If applicant has limited educational background, then sufficient work and volunteer parish experience is expected along with a completed, or in progress, certificate in Youth Ministry from an approved Catholic institution or institute.
    Successful completion of Diocesan Safe Environment requirements and training.
