Founded in 1956 and sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Houston, St. Pius X High School is a secondary, co-educational school, enrolling approximately 550 students from over 130 zip codes. Located in a growing suburban neighborhood, the school sits on over 27 acres of land on the north side of Houston, Texas.

The school currently operates with a 13-member School Board. Three Dominicans sit on the Dominican Sisters of Houston Board of Trustees holding reserve powers. In addition, there is a 16-member Foundation Board of Trustees.

Building scientific minds requires expanded class offerings, innovative teaching, and dynamic learning environments. The community recently completed its Set the World Ablaze $9.1 million capital campaign, which made way for a 27,000-square-foot Center for the Sciences and Media. Key elements include six lab and lecture classrooms and one multi-purpose classroom, a roof-top garden, a leading-edge Media and Resource Center, additional administrative offices and meeting spaces, and enhanced plaza seating for outdoor learning and community gathering.

St. Pius X High School operates in the Head of School (President)/Principal Leadership Model. In this increasingly popular structure, the Principal report to the Head of School (President) and serves as the day-to-day leader of academic operations, including all aspects of the student experience - from the classroom to the playing fields, to faith formation and extracurricular programming. The Office of the Head of School (President) has as its primary purpose to provide broad leadership for SPX to achieve the fullest realization of the school's unique mission. The Head of School (President), in collaboration with the Principal, is equally responsible for the successful overall operation of the school through the effective delegation of responsibilities to the administrative team, faculty, and staff.

The Head of School (President) is appointed and is delegated authority by the Board of Trustees ("the Board") and acts as the chief strategic officer for the school with the guidance of the Board in the implementation of goals and policies. The Head of School (President) is directly responsible for the external affairs of the school, for ensuring sufficient resources, sound fiscal management, and financial stability of the school through direct oversight of the business operations, advancement operations, alumnae affairs, community relations, enrollment management activities, and facilities and infrastructure needs.

The Head of School (President) also bears ultimate responsibility for integrating faith and culture within the school. The Head of School (President) acts as a primary liaison among the school, the Board of Trustees, the Dominican Veritas Ministries, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, and the broader community.
