Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Music contributes to the liturgy by providing professional level music, and by collaborating with the Pastor and Director of Sacred Music in the overall music program at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School. This position reports directly to the Director of Sacred Music and operates with some latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative.
Essential Job Duties:
In coordination with the Director of Sacred Music, serve as Choral Director for both the Parish and Children's Choir, including schedule coordination and anthem planning. Handbell choir leadership experience is a plus, and might also be included
In coordination with the Director of Sacred Music, plan the music, create the worship aid, and lead weekly Vespers on Sunday evenings including necessary choral anthems, composing needed Psalm antiphons, and coordinating with presiders for each week
Assist the Director of Sacred Music in the development of the Friends of the Kings Music Concert Series, such as coordinating with related ministries, networking with (potential) artists, fundraising, and promotion
Assist with administrative support of the music ministry such as worship aid, choral library, and music office organization, and volunteer coordination
Maintain a focus on the Parish Mission in all service to the church: our mission is to unite god's people in the sacraments, steward his generosity, and evangelize the community.
Ability to work as an effective team member with both volunteers and professionals, including scheduling, communication, and organization. This includes parish staff, parish membership, and outside vendors and visitors
Other duties as assigned to support the music ministry, in collaboration with the Director of Sacred Music
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the structure and basic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Knowledge of Catholic sacred music.
Proficiency in working with (but not limited to) the following programs: Gmail, Office Suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc), Google Drive, Google Calendar, Asana, and any respective accompanying mobile apps.
Proficiency in verbal, non-verbal communication, written composition, and active listening skills.
Ability and interest in working as a positive team member with colleagues and members of the church community
Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with staff, clergy, religious and laity.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and utilize effective time management techniques.
Ability to follow instructions furnished in verbal or written format.
Ability to proficiently communicate in English (conversing, reading, and writing).
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Trainings:
Master's Degree in Music, preferably in Choral Conducting
Experience:
3-5 years experience leading a liturgical music ministry program, preferably Catholic
Preferred Experience:
If the director is also a trained keyboard musician: rotate in as the musician for once-per-month Saturday Vigil and/or School Masses, be the designated substitute musician for Organist vacation coverage, lead or share VBS each summer, and potentially lead Contemporary mass each Sunday to balance weekend workloads
Fluent Spanish speaker preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid Texas driver's license.
Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Virtus program and policies throughout the employment period.

He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
