Overview
Vocation Ministry is a Catholic nonprofit, located in Northwest Houston in Texas. Vocation Ministry's mission as a nonprofit is to train, equip, and encourage priests, parishioners, and educators to promote vocations to the priesthood, consecrated life, and marriage in their parishes and schools in a variety of ways. The nonprofit seeks to hire and retain employees who are skilled in their field, active in their Catholic faith, and enthusiastically dedicated to carrying out Vocation Ministry's mission. The candidate must live in the boundaries of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston to be considered for this position.

About the Position
The Development Director is responsible for setting and implementing Vocation Ministry's development plan and creating strategy to achieve the annual budget. This includes managing development activities (including volunteer management, donor database, and donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship); engaging the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers in fundraising efforts; and identifying new sources of funding.
The Development Director reports to the President of Vocation Ministry.
Key Responsibilities
Individual/Major Donor Cultivation
• Identify, cultivate, and grow individual donor base
• Manage and execute annual fund programs
• Direct and implement major donor program(s)
• Conduct direct mail solicitations, annual appeals, acknowledgements, and other donor communications
• Manage and expand annual donor, donor society, and other giving programs
• Collaborate with President and Director of Finance on donor recognition
Foundations
• Conduct grant writing, research, budgeting, and stewardship reporting in coordination with the Director of Finance.
Board Fundraising
• Convene and co-chair Board Development Committee
• Engage Board members in fundraising to support Vocation Ministry.
• Support the President in facilitating regular Board communication and in planning regular Board meeting
Financial and Administrative
• Support Director of Finance in annual charitable registration and reporting
• Manage donor database
• Control and maintain donor files
Qualifications & Experience
Vocation Ministry seeks applicants who are highly motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized, have strong communication skills, especially written, and a deep commitment to the work of Vocation Ministry. The candidate should be both a strong team player and able to work independently. The ideal candidate is someone who has prior employment or volunteer experience with faith-based organizations. The candidate should also have a willingness and tenacity in seeking new opportunities for donor engagement.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Minimum five years of professional fundraising experience.
• Demonstrated success in cultivating donors, managing volunteers developing fundraising campaigns.
• High level knowledge of Excel and Word, along with web, social media, and email communications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and interest and ability to interact with donors,
Hours: 40 hours per week working from home- open to flexible schedules- salary commensurate with experience.
