The Family and Youth Minister (FYM) will be responsible for developing the curriculum, structure and the hiring, training, supervision and leading of employees and parish volunteers, including Adults and Teens who will lead the Family and Youth Activities (i.e., Edge, Life Teen, Confirmation & Family) events/programs at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
The Family and Youth Minister (FYM) will be responsible for developing a parish-based pastoral ministry for Families and Young people from Middle School to High School to Young Adults that includes goals for implementing those components outlined in the USCCB's document Renewing a Vision: A framework for Catholic Youth Ministry.
Goal #1: To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
Goal #2: To draw young people to responsible participation in the Catholic faith community's life, mission and work.
Goal #3: To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
The FYM will have three youth coordinators who will report to them responsible for Edge, LifeTeen and Confirmation.
Qualifications
• Roman Catholic in good standing in the Church.
• Strong commitment to the Catholic faith and relationship with God.
• Fully compliant with Diocesan policies and with safe environment/child protection requirements.
• Minimum of 5 years prior youth ministry experience
• Minimum B.A. in religious education, theology, youth ministry or related field preferred.
o M.A. strongly preferred
• Youth ministry certification preferred.
