St. Gabriel's Catholic School and St. Michael's Catholic Academy are jointly seeking a full time Boys Lacrosse Program Coordinator for the 2022-2023 school year. SGCS and SMCA are co-educational Independent Catholic day schools serving students from Pre-K 3 through 12th grade in Austin, Texas. The Lower School of SGCS comprises grades PK3-4, the Middle School of SGCS houses grades 5-8 and SMCA comprises grades 9-12.
Program Coordinators must possess a demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for working with student athletes in each developmental stage, the ability to work well within a team, excellent oral and written communication skills with both colleagues and the community, and be motivated, life-long learners.
The ideal candidate, therefore, is a dynamic and collaborative professional who has at least five years of coaching experience with head coaching experience preferred, and has demonstrated a passion for developing student athletes in skill and character while teaching the fundamentals and advanced skills of the sport. SGCS and SMCA strive to create positive relationships with parents and the community, thus coaches are expected to demonstrate a willingness to partner with parents in order to create meaningful growth and development for student-athletes.
Profile of a Boys Lacrosse Program Coordinator
Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
Five years of prior coaching experience
Head coaching experience preferred
Willing and able to invest into the development all student-athletes involved with the program
Must love teaching and coaching K-12th grade students
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
Hired and evaluated by the Director of Athletics
Responsibilities of a Boys Lacrosse Program Coordinator
Directly lead the Varsity and sub-Varsity high school teams. Grow and develop the middle school programs. Create and implement a lower school program.
Foster among the participants and spectators an appreciation of the values of athletics, a desire to perform at the highest level, an attitude of good sportsmanship, and a sense of pride in self, team, school, and community.
With Director, hiring, placement, and evaluation of all coaches and volunteers associated within the program.
Instruction and training of coaches and volunteers with regard to program culture, program goals, try-out procedures, identity, styles, and systems of play
Direct the training, conditioning, and performance of the program and lead and supervise the coaches and volunteers in their efforts with teams assigned to them.
In accordance with the schedule, be present for all try-outs, practices, and games
Recommend to the athletic operations manager the type and amount of equipment and supplies needed to conduct the program.
Become knowledgeable with all league rules and regulations
Engage with the parents of the members in a positive and constructive manner.
Communicate with parents on a regular basis to form unity and cohesion.
Communicate with Director regarding scores and stand out players of every competition
Communicate with Director if a player does not return to play after an injury
At the end of events, remain present until every student from your team has been accounted for
Attend the end of season party and present awards and recognitions
Emphasize the importance of academic excellence and assist in maintaining high academic standards for members of the program
Promote the program within the school and community
