The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish (St. Anthony Marie de Claret Catholic Church - Kyle, Texas) which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ's mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or laypeople). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Positions employed at St. Anthony Marie de Claret Catholic Church - Kyle, Texas, help extend the Pastor's ministry in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
The Faith Formation Office Assistant is responsible for providing general administrative support in a hospitable manner for the Faith Formation Office. The position reports to the Director of Faith Formation and operates under close supervision with little latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative.
Essential Job Duties
Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. Anthony Marie de Claret in both your professional and personal life. Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
Provide, in a pleasant and professional manner, a hospitable welcome to all staff, volunteers, visitors, and callers to the Faith Formation Office. Uphold and communicate, accurately and hospitably, policies and information pertaining to Faith Formation.
Provide general administrative support including but not limited to preparing correspondence, emails, forms, program letters, translating English and Spanish documents. Assist with updating the Faith Formation page of the website, preparing Bulletin announcements and Mass announcements, as required.
Maintain an updated and accurate database, including but not limited to registrations, payments, participant records, family records, volunteer lists, schedules, attendance, reports, sacramental paperwork and records, maintaining record retention schedule, etc. Assist with End of Year and Start of Year processes as required.
Process payments received in the Faith Formation Office and prepare deposits for the Bookkeeper in a timely manner. Assist with purchases, expense and income records and balance due notifications as required.
Assist with and attend special liturgical celebrations and events as required, including but not limited to in-person registrations, Parent Orientations, Super Sundays, rehearsals and sacramental liturgies.
Attends meetings at the request of the Pastor/Director of Operations/Director of Faith Formation.
Maintain a work schedule and attendance according to established Faith Formation Office hours with a minimum of 23 hours per week. The schedule includes some evenings, weekends and special occasions.
SHCC FFOA Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Roman Catholic teachings, diocesan and parish structure.
Knowledge of sacraments of initiation.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with staff, clergy, and laity.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural parish serving various cultures and a wide range of age groups.
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Ability to organize, prioritize, utilize effective time management techniques and work effectively with constant interruptions.
Ability to carry out multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and implement creative solutions.
Ability to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs.
Ability to follow instructions furnished in verbal or written format.
Ability to proficiently communicate in English and Spanish (writing, reading and conversing).
Skilled in verbal and non-verbal communication.
SHCC FFOA Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Trainings:
High School Diploma or GED acceptable to Texas Education Agency.
Minimum 2 years of parish experience or similar experience is required; familiarity with principles and dimensions of adult faith formation, catechist formation, young adult ministry, or youth ministry is preferred.
Bilingual in English-Spanish required (proficient in writing, reading and conversing).
Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
Valid Texas driver's license.
Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.

All employees of the parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church.
The parish is an at-will employer.
Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
Working on weekends, evenings and some holidays may be required.
Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech including Roman Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations.
Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
May be required to use personal or parish vehicles to drive to parishes or other off-site locations.
Traveling within and outside the parish to meetings and other events may be required, and travel may include overnight lodging.
