The Reading Specialist is responsible for assisting the classroom/special education teachers with the implementation of the general education program and assisting with tutoring after school, while acting as a contributing member of the school. This is an exempt position.

Responsibilities
1. Conveys clear behavioral expectations to students and monitors compliance. 2. Provide individual and small group reading instruction based on student needs. 3. Provide individual and small group reading instruction based on student needs. 4. Collaborate with teachers and administration regarding scheduled individual and/or group with the interventionist. As this schedule is fluid, the interventionist will be responsible for informing the teachers and administration of any changes to the schedule. 5. Create lesson plans tailored for individual academic needs. 6. Provide progress monitoring to demonstrate student progress to Director of Education. 7. Assists with morning, lunch room and recess duties as assigned. 8. Reports immediately, any type of abuse, neglect, suspected or alleged, as well as any serious accidents or illnesses affecting the student to school administration. 9. Attends and participates in in-service training, pre-service workshops and any appropriate administrative, and staff meetings. 10. Attend Case Service Plan (CSP) meetings when needed. 11. Completes other responsibilities as required by the School Administration.
Qualifications
Four year degree in Education South Dakota teaching certification preferred Valid Driver's License
Physical Demands
Uses both hands and wrists repetitively for prolonged periods. Driving is required. Ability to stand for prolonged periods. Position requires supervising children outdoors.
