Bishop England High School in Charleston, SC is searching for a full-time (year round) Director of Campus Ministry to provide spiritual and pastoral support for its students, faculty, staff, administration and the extended school community. The Director of Campus Ministry will work with the school administration to help bring to life a campus rich in spiritual growth, prayer, discipleship opportunities, sacramental experiences, service opportunities, and the development of leaders in service to the Church and society. This person will help identify the spiritual needs of the school community and will work to build teams and opportunities that foster real encounters with Jesus Christ and our Catholic Faith.
Major Job responsibilities and duties:
- Provide opportunities for BE community to deepen their relationship
with Christ
- Elude a positive presence at school activities and events
- Plan and coordinate school retreats
- Coordinate Weekly Adoration
- Coordinate large group faith activities such as Catholic Schools Week,
John England Day Living Rosary, Penance Services, Stations of the
Cross, March for Life and other events in congruence with the state of
the world and local Church
- Lead small groups and collaborate with current moderators (Clubs,
Bible studies, etc)
- Collaborate with School Chaplain on mission and vision of campus
ministry program, as well as sacramental opportunities for students and
faculty
- Arrange two or more speakers per for student body and parents' faith
formation nights
- Create a yearly plan for all Campus Ministry activities with a focus on
the liturgical seasons, vocation awareness week, Catholic Schools Week,
etc
- Support students in living a life towards justice and service in
congruence with their required class service projects
- Organize and maintain Our Lady of Mercy Chapel
- Collaborate with Chaplain to train, assign, and communicate with
student sacristans, altar servers, and lectors
- Write daily prayers for school announcements and other special prayer
opportunities
- Encourage student participation in Diocesan and local parish Youth
Ministry programs; meeting with local youth ministers to collaborate on
shared ministry opportunities
- Communicate monthly with Battalion Prayer Team members
- Maintain and update Campus Ministry information on school website
- Assist with the strategic planning process as a representative for
Campus Ministry
- Maintain accurate accounting of Campus Ministry budget in
coordination with the school administration and finance office
- Create and update material for the bulletin boards outside the chapel
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Theology, Pastoral Studies, Ministry or related
field; Master's degree preferred
- Practicing Catholic with an evangelistic spirit and in good standing with
the Church
- 3-5 years of experience working in youth or campus ministry, youth
activities or related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to publicize Campus Ministry
events
- Organized, able to communicate effectively with the entire community,
and able to work within a budget
