I. Job Overview:
An intentional disciple of Jesus Christ, the Director is responsible for fulfilling the purpose of the Office of Family, Youth, and Young Adult Evangelization which is to accompany and support parishes in the mission of forming disciples: bringing families, youth, and young adults into a relationship with Christ.
This includes but is not limited to: supervising all youth centers, summer camp, athletics, adolescent, and adult leader groups. The director also collaborates with various diocesan offices, including the Office of Faith Formation and the Catholic School Office.
II. Job Responsibilities:
-Assist and advise the Secretary for Evangelization and Pastoral Planning on the overall mission of the secretariat.
-Develop and sustain collaborative relationships with clergy and lay leaders throughout the Diocese.
-Provide practical support for parish evangelization and catechetical leaders, including directors of faith formation and coordinators of youth ministry, in their evangelization efforts to families, youth, and young adults.
-Responsible for the personnel needs and fiscal administration of all agencies under the jurisdiction of this office. Oversee and monitor the programming of all respective agencies and gather all necessary reports. Oversee the hiring and monitor the supervision of all personnel with these agencies. Agencies include Rejoice in Hope Youth Center, Mother of Hope Camp, Catholic Athletic League, and St. John Bosco Chapel at Yawgoo Scout Camp.
-Work collaboratively with Superintendent of Schools and Director of Faith Formation.
-Attend all diocesan director meetings and represent the agencies at various diocesan functions. Attend all meetings of the related corporations. Supervise and convene youth ministry board of directors meetings. Periodically attend various activities and visit the locations and their personnel.
-Act as diocesan liaison for outside groups related to the evangelization of families, youth, and young adults.
-To perform other related duties as requested
III. Education/ Qualifications
-An intentional Catholic disciple who is in good standing, who understands and supports the mission of the Church in the Diocese of Providence.
-A willingness to be a leader in the evangelization efforts of the Church, including being a witness to one's own relationship with Jesus Christ.
-Master's degree in theology, catechetics, or related field required with at least 5 years experience in family, youth, and young adult evangelization.
-Significant experience in assisting parishes to develop evangelization efforts for families, youth, and young adults.
-Ability to teach, train, and mentor parish leaders.
-Detail oriented and ability to work independently.
-Excellent interpersonal skills.
-Must be available for nights, weekends, and overnights.
