    Secretariat for Administration
    Position Description

    Job Title: Staff Accountant
    FLSA: Exempt; Full-Time
    Reporting Functions: Reports to Director of Parish and School Support.

    Job Function: Responsible for assisting Parish and School Support Department with financial analysis, general accounting, budgets and financial reports review. Provide Bookkeeping Services to other locations when needed. Deliver assistance and training to Parish and School Bookkeepers when needed.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    - Primary areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, accounts receivable and payable, bank and GL reconciliations, purchasing, cash management, accounting and finance.

    - Knowledge of preparing and submitting Budgets and Financial Reports.

    - Experience in payroll and data entry/management.

    - Assist in the review and analysis of the annual budget and financial reports.

    - Analysis of Data and Prepare reports as necessary.

    Additional Tasks
    - Assist in the implementation of standard accounting software for parishes and schools.

    - Prepare parish and school projections as necessary for mergers and closures.

    - Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Additional Condition of Employment:
    Due to the nature and mission of the Catholic Church, all employees are bound to exhibit respect for the teachings and discipline of the Church in regard to matters of faith and morals.

    Educational Requirements:
    - Minimum of Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education plus 3-5 years professional level experience in payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or business administration fields.

    - Professional certification a plus.

    Other Requirements:
    - Computer literate in hardware and software applications, PC/laptop and network.

    - Excellent communicator with the ability to work with all levels of management and non-management personnel.

    - The ability to work independently without the benefit of close supervision.

    - Knowledge of accounting software, Sage, QuickBooks, etc.

    - Proficient with Excel.

    - Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10; Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

    - Valid driver's license.

    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone. Use of hands to operate standard office equipment; with occasional reaching and lifting up to 10 pounds.

    Working Conditions: Normal office environment, Full-Time. Normal Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May be required to work on other than normal workday or weekly schedule. Is required to travel for business purposes (normally not overnight). May encounter some exposure to household pets such as cats and dogs.
