Job purpose
The Secretary, Catholic Human Services is responsible for the oversight of all operations comprising the Secretariat for Catholic Human Services including Catholic Housing and Community Services, Catholic Social Services, Nutritional Development Services. These entities include all institutions and programs of the Archdiocese in the areas of intellectual disabilities, social services, senior adult, family services, immigration, adoption, counseling, child care, foster care, after school initiatives, housing and homeless sites, hospice care, dependent/neglected youth services and group homes, maternity homes and programs, food assistance and community stabilization operations.
Duties and responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
Serves Ex-Officer as the Executive Vice-President of all Corporate Boards under the auspices of Catholic Human Services.
Chairs the Catholic Health Care Review Board monitoring adherence to the Ethical and Religious Directives by all Catholic Health Care institutions within the Archdiocese.
Other Job Functions
Oversees board mailings including agenda preparation, completes minutes of Strategic Planning Committee and reviews drafts of Finance Committee meetings.
Functions as lead for Monthly Director's Staff meetings.
Meets monthly with direct reports.
Serves on Pennsylvania Catholic Conference Service Committee
Qualifications
Education
Master's Degree in Social Work, or related field, from an accredited university required.
Experience
Strong business background blended with social work, leadership and organizational development.
Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
Strong background and understanding of Church Teachings and Ethical and Religious Directives.
Proficient working knowledge of Pennsylvania and Archdiocesan-based social services agencies and Catholic Health Care institutions.
Strong commitment to the core values, mission and philosophy of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communications skills.
Working conditions
Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with staff, residents, clients, participants and other agencies.
Is subject to frequent interruptions.
Is involved with staff, residents, clients, participants, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc. under all circumstances and conditions.
Physical requirements
Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during work hours.
Must be able to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc. up to 50 lbs.
