JOB DESCRIPTION
Joining the Teaching Colleagues at Mount Saint Joseph Academy, a Roman Catholic, college prep, all-girls academy in Montgomery County, PA, the History Teacher provides a holistic, inspired, dynamic history education to young college-bound women, across grades 9-12, with the expertise and desire to teach various courses including Foundations of Western Civilization. In the spirit of the mission of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia, we believe that "On the education of women largely depends the future of society," and so empower young women to reach their fullest potential.
This position requires skills in teaching various learners at all levels and a fluency in various types of assessment strategies. All teachers demonstrate a passion for the Mount's mission to empower young women to be agents of transformation in an ever-changing society.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
All teachers are responsible for ensuring the creative and academically challenging development of our students both in and out of the classroom. As all Mount Saint Joseph Academy (MSJA) colleagues, teachers represent MSJA in everything they do and everywhere they go. Essential duties for teachers include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
• Uphold the mission, integrity, and dynamic academic environment of MSJA
• Develop engaging, student-centered, creative, and appropriate lesson plans, assignments, and assessments in the courses selected by Administration
• Willingness to collaborate with Department Colleagues and Learning Team to design and implement learning experiences that serve diverse learners
• Engage families in their students' education by building relationships and maintaining timely and consistent communication with parents and caregivers
• Maintain careful records of student progress in line with departmental and school policy
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date curriculum information/syllabi on all classes taught
• Maintain an accurate and updated gradebook through PowerSchool and course material through our LMS, Canvas
• Act as a positive role model, who promotes the goals, values and mission of the school and uphold all rules and policies

• Outstanding instructional skills delivered through varied, culturally responsive, and engaging strategies
• Ability to teach Foundations of Western Civilization and knowledge of secondary history curriculum trajectory preferred
• Genuine interest, belief, and care for students' personal and academic success

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Good computing/technology skills for the classroom and the general work environment
• Good relational skills at all levels including administration, staff, parents, and students

REQUIRED EDUCATION
• Bachelor's Degree in History or related field (required)
• Master's Degree in History or related field (preferred)
• Experience teaching History at the high school or college level (preferred)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Prolonged periods standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and computer/technology-use throughout the working period
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds as needed
