ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Learning Specialist/Team Coordinator supports students with learning differences including language-based learning differences and those in need of executive functioning supports. They are in charge of organizing the overall processes and organization at MSJA of students who learn differently. They work closely with all community members to promote the equitable success of students. The Learning Specialist/ Team Coordinator is also responsible to maintain clear communication between faculty, parent/guardian, and student.
The Learning Specialist role includes working collaboratively with faculty members to help ensure and document the process of curricular and instructional offerings that are fully differentiated and progress-monitored to meet the students' needs. This role is the primary contact and liaison for assessment and data collection from collaborating psychoeducational bodies and caregivers.
LEARNING SPECIALIST/TEAM COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Meet 1-1 for academic coaching with a specific caseload of students to support their executive functioning and language-based skills
• Manage study groups and conduct 1-1s with individual students
• Arrange professional learning opportunities for the learning support team and faculty as applicable
• Review and draft Individual and Temporary Accommodation Plans (IAP/TAP)
• Organize accommodation plan meetings with all relevant community members
• Communicate and evaluate the progress of accommodations and strategies with students and teachers
• Track data on progress monitoring of students to report to colleagues and families
• File and document psychoeducational evaluations and other relevant documents
• Organize assessments for students to identify those who have learning differences
• Update parents and teachers regularly about students' progress
• Build supportive, trusting relationships with students
• Request accommodations through the College Board SSD system for students wanting accommodations on the PSAT
• Organize all standardized testing and end of year exam accommodations
• Advise the Teaching and Learning Committee on best practices and use of data per caseload

• Experience working with students with learning differences
• A very high level of organization and flexibility
• Familiarity with accommodation and modification processes in independent school cultures particularly with students with ADHD and other executive function supports preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds
REQUIRED EDUCATION
• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience in secondary schools
• Reading Specialist and/or Special Education Certification, Education, or Equivalent experience preferred
