Responsibilities and Duties

Preparation and Planning
Demonstrates in-depth and thorough knowledge of PA Academic Standards, content and pedagogy.

Assesses students needs to direct and guide instruction.

Writes clear and appropriate instructional goals.

Exhibits an in-depth and thorough awareness of materials, resources and technology available.

Collaborates with team members to integrate the arts into other content areas.

Differentiates for students as needed to meet the needs of the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.

Classroom Environment
Establishes high and clear expectations for student achievement.

Motivates participation of all students, regardless of talent, experience or perceived ability.

Demonstrates appropriate and highly respectful interactions between teacher and students and among students.

Creates and maintains an effective, engaging, and safe learning environment.

Creates classroom displays/projects designed to enhance learning.

Provides safe and skillful organization of physical space, to the extent it is under the control of the teacher that provides accessibility to learning and to the use of resources.

Demonstrates knowledge and appreciation of the culture and language of all students.

Instruction
Instructs students using a variety of methods including whole class direct instruction, small group instruction, collaborative learning centers and independent practice.

Implements prescribed curricular resources with fidelity.

Demonstrates clear and appropriate communication of procedures and high quality

explanations of content.

Employs highly effective questioning and discussion strategies that encourage student participation.

Creates a high level of student engagement in learning and pacing of instruction.

Provides equitable, accurate and constructive feedback to students on their learning.

Monitors and reports student progress using a variety of methods.

Displays a high degree of flexibility and responsiveness in meeting the learning needs of students.

Professional Responsibilities
Demonstrates full adherence to school policies and procedures and Pennsylvania's Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators.

Appropriately handles confidential information.

Maintains accurate records regarding attendance, academic performance, discipline and parent communication.

Collaborates with faculty and administration in a supportive and cooperative manner regarding curriculum, academic performance or behavior expectations.

Consults with the Title Team and English Language Development Department regarding recommended strategies, practices or programs for students in need of academic support or who receive English Language services.

Consults with the student services and special education department regarding students with IEPs.

Follows procedures related to the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for students demonstrating academic or behavioral difficulties.

Provides clear direction, support and feedback to paraprofessionals.

Supports school events both during and outside of the school day.

Maintains frequent, timely and appropriate communication with students, families, faculty and administration.

Actively participates in professional development activities.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal or designee.

Reports to: Principal

Job Qualifications
Bachelor s or Master s Degree in Elementary Education required.

Valid PA Elementary Teacher Certification required.

Experience teaching elementary-aged students is preferred.
