Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and faith-filled Catholic Youth and Young Adult Minister to lead, guide, and inspire the spiritual growth of the parish’s youth (grades 6-12) and young adults (ages 18-35). The ideal candidate will create engaging programs, provide mentorship, and cultivate a welcoming environment that encourages young people to deepen their relationship with Christ and become active members of the Catholic Church. This role requires someone with a strong Catholic faith background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for ministering to young people. Living knowledge of the Catholic Faith and Catechism. English/Spanish ideal.
Key Responsibilities:
Youth Ministry (Grades 6-12):
Plan, organize, and lead youth ministry events, retreats, service projects, and activities that promote faith development and community.
Provide catechesis and faith formation that aligns with the teachings of the Catholic Church, preparing youth for Confirmation and other sacraments.
Build relationships with students, offering spiritual mentorship and guidance in their personal and faith lives.
Collaborate with parents, parish staff, and volunteers to foster a supportive and vibrant youth ministry.
Organize weekly or bi-weekly youth group meetings, prayer services, and opportunities for worship and fellowship.
Encourage youth involvement in liturgical ministries such as altar serving, lectoring, or music ministry.
Young Adult Ministry (Ages 18-35):
Develop and implement a ministry program tailored to the spiritual and social needs of young adults, including Bible studies, discussion groups, social events, and community service projects.
Provide opportunities for young adults to grow in their faith through prayer, formation, and fellowship.
Mentor and accompany young adults as they navigate life transitions, vocation discernment, and their role in the Church.
Promote and encourage participation in diocesan and regional young adult events, retreats, and conferences.
Foster leadership development among young adults, empowering them to take ownership of their faith journey and service to the parish and community.
Community Building & Evangelization:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with youth, young adults, families, and the broader parish community.
Collaborate with the parish priest, staff, and other ministry leaders to integrate youth and young adult ministry into the broader life of the parish.
Use social media, digital platforms, and other creative means to reach out and evangelize to youth and young adults, keeping them connected to the Church.
Provide pastoral care and support to youth and young adults as needed, including in times of crisis or spiritual need.
Engage with local schools, colleges, and community groups to promote involvement in parish activities.
Qualifications:
Practicing Catholic in good standing with a deep commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, Youth Ministry, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Previous experience in youth or young adult ministry, with strong knowledge of Catholic catechesis and evangelization.
Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to plan and execute a variety of events and programs.
Ability to connect with and inspire young people through effective communication, creativity, and relational ministry.
Proficiency with social media and digital communication platforms.
Experience in recruiting, training, and leading volunteers is a plus.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and attend retreats or conferences as required.
