De La Salle North Catholic High School provides a faith-based, college-preparatory high school education to underserved students from the Portland area. Our goal is to develop tomorrow's community leaders by making high- quality education accessible to motivated young people in a learning environment that values cultural, spiritual, and ethnic diversity. Our educational approach provides each student with the opportunity to succeed through small classes, high expectations, and active participation in our Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) affiliated with the nationally-recognized Cristo Rey Network.
POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of the Executive Team, the Director of Finance & Operations reports to the President and will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the school. This includes direct responsibility for accounting, forecasting, budgeting, audit, nonprofit financial requirements, strategic planning, and human resources. The Director of Finance & Operations oversees the Business Associate, HR Coordinator, Facilities Manager and Kitchen staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Financial Administration
* Lead and monitor the integrity of all aspects of the general accounting recording, monitoring, reconciling, closing, and reporting cycles in accordance with GAAP.
* Maintain relationships with organization's banks and other financial institutions.
* Oversee semi-monthly payroll for all employees. This also includes tax filings, 403(b) payments to Fund administrators, and benefit allocations.
* Assist with the various financial assistance programs for families including financial aid awards and the Federal Free & Reduced Lunch Program. Provide timely communications with billings and collections.
* Lead and coordinate the annual audit process, collaborate with external auditors and the finance committee. Manage the audit preparation, follow up and timely resolution of all audit findings.
* Supervise Business Office Assistant in the areas of tuition collection, accounts payable and receivable, check processing and payroll.
* Produce monthly core statements (P&L, BS & Cash flow) and presentation to President, Finance Committee, and Board of Trustees.
* Manage the annual budget process and department reporting, including providing financial guidance, review proposals, prepare budget templates, and distribute final budget packages to budget leaders.
* Support the Development Department in their maintenance of donor relationships, including reconciling pledge balances, maintaining grant and donor restrictions, and providing necessary financial information for all grant applications and proposals.
Facilities & Operations
* Review supplies, equipment, leases and service contracts. Ensure commitments are appropriately reflected in financial statements. Process invoices timely. Proactively manage communications to President and leaders of contract changes or deadlines.
* Monitor safeguards for fixed assets. Assist leaders to ensure assets are utilized in compliance with plans.
* Oversee the management of the school's food services.
Human Resources
* Reviews pension and benefit plans on a regular basis with the President to determine attractiveness and economic practicality of benefits package.
* Negotiates all employee benefits. Responsible for on-going education and communication with employees regarding their benefits.
* Responsible for all personnel files, policies and the annual updating of employee handbook.
* Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on legal obligations regarding employees and best practice in all areas of finance and employment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related field.
* Master's Degree in Business Administration or CPA preferred.
* 7+ years of accounting and financial operations experience, including budget development, ideally within a nonprofit organization.
* 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
* Demonstrate strong communication skills in written and oral form, in order to effectively disseminate program direction to a wide range of audiences.
* Proficiency with QuickBooks software, Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel spreadsheets.
* Ability to cooperate as a team member with other school colleagues and administration in an effort to meet key objectives and to support the office of the President.
* A multitasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment.

* Must be familiar with nonprofit finance and accounting regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Must be able to constantly remain in a stationary position.
* Must be able to occasionally move about office/classroom to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
* Must be able to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
* Must be able to occasionally move office equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 lbs.
* Must be able to work occasionally in outdoor weather conditions.
ANNUAL SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary DOE.
