Works with Worship Publications Manager, Associate Editor, and Hispanic Music Development Specialist to determine and oversee the music content and editorial direction of our Spanish-language and bilingual missals, hymnals and ancillary materials, ensuring adherence to customer needs, publishing standards and quality processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees and directs layout of Spanish and bilingual publications, with primary responsibility for the music sections.
Leads music evaluation and selection process for Spanish and bilingual missals and hymnals.
Works with Worship Publications Manager to direct the work of the department.
Creates add/delete lists for the music sections for the approval of senior management and ultimately the publisher.
Creates copyright reports for CAD and Royalties to use in requesting songs and paying royalties.
Develops and implements ways to evaluate the popularity of individual titles in the missal programs.
Works with the Associate Editor to ensure correct music in the front end of missals and hymnals.
Acts as the main music proofer for all Spanish and bilingual missals and hymnals.
Participates in music selection committee meetings.
Oversees and directs the electronic layout of music sections of Spanish and bilingual publications.
Tracks features and content of competing missal and hymnal products and produces regular reports for missal planning purposes.
Performs Executive Review on publications to ensure quality and give approval for manufacturing.
Updates missal data in MMDB.
Works with Music Editorial to ensure that accompaniments for missals and hymnals are correctly prepared.
Works with Editorial and Data Services to ensure that digital versions of the missals and hymnals are prepared.
Works with Music Development to ensure that appropriate new titles and/or translations are developed for the missals and hymnals.
Ensures the accuracy of musical elements in Liturgia y Cancion and other Spanish and bilingual worship publications.
Works with Associate Editor and Marketing in developing music surveys for Spanish and bilingual missals and hymnals.
Ensures the creation and entry into Datahub of an annual list of song suggestions for each major slot of each liturgy listed on the Annual Missal Calendar.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Remains up to date on norms and documents related to Catholic liturgy.
Represents OCP at conventions, conferences and workshops as needed.
Provides internal training sessions on OCP products.
Answers customer questions.
Reviews and approves corrections noted by proofreaders.
Supports Managing Editor of Missals and Periodicals and Associate Editor as needed, including proofing eBooks.
As needed, creates and updates documentation that aids missal processes and/or proofreading duties and encourages best practices.
Participates in divisional, departmental, and inter-departmental meetings and trainings.

Bachelor's degree or higher in Music, Liturgy, or related degree (post-graduate preferred)
3+ years in a publishing or leadership position in pastoral music
Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and Catholicism
Sing or play an instrument
Full written and verbal proficiency in Spanish and English
Knowledge of Hispanic culture and Catholic publishing market
Working knowledge of OCP's Spanish and bilingual missals and hymnals desirable
