POSITION TITLE: Executive Director
REPORTS TO: Board of Directors
SALARY: $85,000/year plus benefits

Catholic Community Services is an essential provider of safety-net services in Lane County offering immediate assistance with food, clothing, and energy & housing assistance. Just as we serve anyone in need, we also partner with all who share our commitment to charity and justice for the poor, whatever their faith background.
Through the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, Catholic Community Services of Lane County achieves lasting solutions to poverty and injustice by partnering with clients to meet their economic and educational goals, and to support their physical and social well-being. CCSLC is the charitable arm of the Catholic Church in Lane County and a member agency of Catholic Charities of Oregon and Catholic Charities USA.
Through the COVID Pandemic, CCS has been an essential services provider. The CCS staff has worked tirelessly from our two community service center offices throughout the pandemic and adapted all programs to enable us to continue to help clients, without interruption in services. With a 35% increase in new food pantry clients starting in March 2020 we have seen the need of Lane County residents and have responded. CCS is now focusing on getting CARES Covid Relief funds for rental and energy assistance to people as quickly as possible.

What We Need: Catholic Community Services is hiring an Executive Director. The Executive Director will have overall responsibility for a $7.2M+ organization with 35+ employees, 300 volunteers, and multiple programs and services. The Executive Director works collaboratively with the Board of Directors, staff, parish, and community volunteers and donors to advance the mission of Catholic Community Services of Lane County.
I. Board Governance and Leadership
Ensure all programs, services, strategic plans, and outreach align with the mission and values of the organization.
Maintain a positive and productive relationship with Catholic Charities of Oregon, the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon and other member agencies in the Oregon Catholic Charities network.
Maintain and strengthen the Catholic identity of the organization by building relationships with local Catholic parishes, schools, and organizations.
Lead the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan.
Engage the Board in meaningful CCS volunteer and CCS outreach activities.
II. Program Oversight
Collaborate with and provide direction to CCS managers to facilitate the daily and long-term operations and activities of the organization.
Oversee the hiring, training, supervision, evaluation of staff in conjunction with managers.
Be responsible for ensuring adequate risk management and liability protection for the organization.
Maintain and build relationships with elected officials, staff, and government funders for on-going support of CCS programs.
III. Fundraising and Resource Development
With the Development team, actively solicit and secure charitable donations.
Develop meaningful and long-term relationships with funders and donors.
Actively support and encourage all levels of giving to the organization.
Participate in government and private outreach for grant dollars.
IV. Financial Oversight
Collaborate with the Accounting Department to ensure that accurate and timely financial reports are provided to the Board, managers, and funders.
Monitor adherence with agency financial policies and procedures and support the completion of an annual independent audit.
V. Community Engagement
Serve as the principal voice and face of the organization to supporters, the media, and the general public.
Represent CCS programs with knowledge and respect.
Connect with Catholic parishes and other faith-based communities for volunteer, financial and spiritual support.
Work to develop strategic and operational partnerships with other social service organizations, entities, and networks.
5+ years of experience working in an administrative/management capacity with a nonprofit organization or equivalent work environment.
Active participant in the Catholic Church and Catholic community.
Understanding of government contracts and federal/state funding.
Direct experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and grant reporting.
Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and comfort in public speaking.
Demonstrated ability to represent and enhance organizational values of collaboration, inclusion, and compassion.
Proven track record in successful fundraising.
Familiar with Catholic doctrine and beliefs and actively participate in the Catholic Church and its social mission.
