Job Description Director of Development
Job Status: Exempt, part-time
Department: Development
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: Development Staff
Committees and Task Forces: Fund Development and Outreach, Strategic Planning, Finance, Capital Campaign
The Director of Development will be responsible for building relationships and establishing donor support through a variety of methods including annual banquets, special events, written appeals, major donor personal contacts, planned giving vehicles and speaking engagements.

Primary Duties and Goals
Administration and Staff Supervision
Provide professional leadership to development staff
Support outreach efforts by Women's Center staff as needed
Supervise Development Officers and administrative staff, meet regularly with supervisees, conduct performance/goal review, and approve all paperwork as appropriate
Attend board meetings when requested
Review and approve quarterly newsletter and other written development literature
Other duties pertaining to the mission of the organization as assigned by the Executive Director
Fund Development
Work with the executive director and board to meet or exceed the income goals of ENLC
Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events
Initiate planned giving activities to encourage donors to name ENLC in wills, trusts, annuities, etc.
Initiate multiple giving strategies for donors to ensure the long-range viability of ENLC
Donor Relationships
Identify donor prospects, determine appropriate targets for funding; initiates contact
Identifies businesses/foundations for potential grants and provides information to Grant Manager/Writer
Seek to expand donor support base through women's center tours, speaking engagements, referrals, special events and cold calls
Participate in the Development Team efforts for the appreciation of donors at all levels
Public Relations
Represent ENLC to community agencies
Participate in efforts of our affiliated organizations, assisting in the training of other centers as requested
Financial
Assist in preparation of annual budget
Organizational Development
Member of the Fund Development and Outreach, Strategic Planning, Finance and Capital Campaign committee/task force
Participate on committees and special projects as requested
Strategic Management
Assist in the development of annual outcome goals for all pertinent strategic initiative(s)
Oversee steps taken to achieve annual outcome goal
Achieve annual outcome goals as outlined in the appropriate business plan
Analyze data reports from fundraisers, special events, fund campaigns, and donors to determine future direction of development activities
Job Requirements
Experience, Education and Licensure
College degree with concentration in Marketing, or Non-Profit Management preferred. Management/Administrative experience, including managing/supervising a staff of 5-10. Three to five years' experience in the non-profit sector. Three to five years' experience in development or related discipline. Maintain professional expertise by participating in appropriate educational conferences and programs to develop and maintain professional knowledge and skills.
Language Skills
Excellent interpersonal and group communication skills and strong writing ability. Excels at public speaking. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries. Ability to effectively present information to senior management, employee groups and/or boards of directors. Demonstrated problem solving ability and the logical/rational ability to formulate effective solutions. Must be able to comfortably ask others for donations
Work Environment:
Occasional nights and weekends may be required.

Working Conditions
Driving to and from various locations is required. Mileage may be reimbursed by ENLC. Occasional nights and weekends required.
