Position Summary
The Director of Alumni and Career Connections serves Walsh's growing network of 17,000 plus alumni and friends worldwide and oversees Career Connections operations ensuring continuous collaboration and connectivity. This dynamic, creative individual must have excellent communication skills and be organized, outgoing, and personable. The Director will work closely with members of the campus community, alumni affinity groups, and student alumni association to build upon the excellent foundation already established in Walsh's alumni relations outreach to assist the University in reaching its fundraising and friend-raising goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
-Leads outreach efforts to Walsh University's alumni through the planning and execution of strategic events, programs and communications, including but not limited to reunions, homecoming, social events, recognition programs, networking opportunities, and volunteer programs.
-Directs the successful planning and execution of the following: Homecoming and Reunion Weekend, Viva Walsh Vegas online auction, Alumni Golf Outing, Breakfast and Brunch with Santa and other events as assigned.
-Establishes and builds relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
-Advances the Career Connections Center to ensure that the most innovative efforts are being implemented to assist students and alumni in their career planning and development.
-Supervises and provides oversight over the duties of the Career Connections Manager.
-Develops and manages copy creation and cadence for all web content, email communication and social content for Office of Alumni Relations in conjunction with VP of Marketing and AVP of Alumni and Career Connections.
-Collaborates with Career Connections Manager and other key constituents to determine the best strategies for cross-functional programming of alumni and employers for mentorship, career advice and on-campus student interaction.
-Establishes partnerships with community employers that leads to mentorship, employment and collaboration with students, alumni and the University.
-Manages the development of the Career Connections infrastructure.
Lead and guides the development, implementation and use of the Handshake technology.
-Partners with the AVP to recruit and train alumni volunteer mentors; develop a plan for evolving the alumni volunteer model with mentor recruitment in targeted industries.
-Develops evaluation protocols for the alumni and Career Connections centers.
-Analyze Career Connection center reports that track and assess the Career Connections initiative; use report data to make improvements in the operation and management of the initiative.
-Advises and works with various internal constituents, campus departments, alumni affinity groups, alumni board and student alumni association to provide consultation on best practices in working with students, alumni and friends of the University.
-Oversees the allocated Career budget, creates and manages the department events calendar, and supervises the Career Connections Manager.
-Collaborates with the Alumni and Career Connections team to establish and ensure metrics of Career Connections assessment are achieved and compliant with HLC standards and guidelines.
-Expands professional and career resources and benefits for alumni.
-Travels to various special events, with evening and weekend availability as needed.
-Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:
-Successful track record in engaging volunteers and developing programming and events.
-Ability to manage multiple priorities and delegate needs among team.
-Able to plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously and balance priorities under time constraints, while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
-Solid ability to evaluate programs and analyze data and develop program enhancements.
-Experience collaborating cross-functionally and interacting effectively with employers, alumni, students and with university team members.
-Knowledge of budget management.
-Must be able to effectively work through daily operational issues.
-Must be able to manage and appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.
-Demonstrated strong team-building skills.
-Proven ability to work as a member of a team.
-Able to work nights and weekends and to travel locally and nationally.
-A Walsh alum is preferred.
Education: Bachelors degree in business, marketing, communications or related field. Masters degree preferred.
Work Experience: Three years of demonstrated experience in alumni relations, fundraising or other not-for-profit agencies similar in scope to Walsh's alumni relations program.
Skills and abilities:
-Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills.
-A minimum of three years of management experience.
-Proficiency with PC applications such as Microsoft Office and Handshake.
-Must hold a valid driver's license.
