Classical High School Latin/Humanities Teacher | Full or Part Time

Chesterton Academy of St. Joseph, a joyful, classical high school, rooted in the Catholic faith, seeks a talented and dynamic full-time Latin teacher to join our team starting in the 2023-2024 academic year.

The Chesterton Academy of St. Joseph: Joining the Chesterton School's Network, the Chesterton Academy of St. Joseph will begin its second year in the Fall of 2023. Its inception is the result of local families and educators working to found a devoted high school built upon intentional community, Catholic tradition and the sacraments in Dayton, OH.

The Role and Expectations: A bachelor's or master's degree is required. Experience teaching high school Latin is desired. The ideal candidate will be willing to teach two levels of Latin as well as two levels of Math and/or History/Philosophy. Three to five years of teaching experience is preferred, as well as experience in and passion for Catholic classical education. The ideal candidate will have an understanding and appreciation of an integrated curriculum which allows for the connection between math/science with the humanities and arts. He/she will be familiar with teaching in the Socratic method.

The candidate must be a practicing Catholic able to actively mentor the students in the faith, and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills, classroom management and possess a track record of contributing to the vision and mission of an apostolic and educational enterprise.

In addition to their teaching responsibilities, faculty at Chesterton Academy participate in the House system, which is designed to promote character and virtue, and to help students grow in holiness. Faculty members are required to attend daily Mass with the entire student body, and assist in leading spiritual retreats and school activities.
