POSITION SUMMARY
The Head Women's Basketball Coach will oversee the intercollegiate Women's Basketball program at Franciscan University of Steubenville. The primary responsibilities of this position include instructing student athletes on the rules and fundamentals of the sport during practice (both in team and individual settings), preparing the student athlete for competition, and coaching on game days. The Head Coach is responsible for supporting the academic and spiritual development of each student athlete.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Game day strategy and coaching
2. Plan and execute practices and training programs, including individual and team film study.
3. Specific position/individual athlete instruction
4. Promote the academic development of each student athlete and a team culture of academic excellence.
5. Promote the spiritual development of each student athlete and a team culture where the Catholic faith and Christian moral principles are integrated into the daily activities of the athletic program.
6. Learn and comply with all relevant NCAA and PAC conference rules and regulations.
7. Coordinate with other athletic staff and other university departments on logistical issues such as contest scheduling, team travel, venue maintenance and game day preparation.
8. Communicate with prospective student athletes in accordance with NCAA regulations; collaborate with the recruiting coordinator and Admissions.

REQUIREMENTS
Must understand, support and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:

Work Experience
• 3-5 years of coaching experience, Collegiate or high school head coaching (college preferred); former collegiate basketball player.
• Knowledge of the D3 rules and regulations and familiarity with PAC rules and regulations
• Recruiting experience of prospective student athletes and knowledge of the recruiting services

Competencies
• Demonstrate effective coaching skills, knowledge of coaching tactics in the development of the student athlete, both individually and as a team
• Implementation of daily practice plans, plan practice and game day strategies

Education/Credentials
• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
• CPR/First Aid

Technical Skills
• Actively seek ways to practice and continually improve the required skills or knowledge.
• Developing Self: Continually assesses one's skills and identifies areas that can be further improved.
• Decision Quality; Effectively blends analysis, experience and intuition in decision making
• Verbal Communication: Very good communicator to be able to ensure actionable communication.

Workplace Factors
• Understanding basic set up and tear down of the equipment to keep track of inventory.
• Able to handle travel arrangements and the ability to drive a 12-passenger van.
• Schedule matches in a timely manner to be able to report game score and stats after the game.
