Position Summary
The Director of E-learning at Walsh University oversees the operations and strategic planning related to the design, delivery, and support of online course and program development. This position collaborates with other offices in developing and implementing campus policies and procedures related to online learning. The Director of E-learning is responsible for ensuring compliance in online courses related to HLC accreditation, state authorization, and accessibility as well as monitoring online courses and programs for alignment with nationally recognized standards. Areas of additional responsibility include the supervision of the E-learning/Instructional Design team and the administration of the department budget. The Director serves as Walsh University's Quality Matters Coordinator and a Course Review Manager, organizing QM subscriber-managed reviews and QM-related trainings for Walsh University faculty.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Supervise the online course development and review process to ensure compliance and alignment with nationally recognized standards, industry practices, and Walsh University initiatives
Develop, implement, and assess policies and procedures guiding quality and consistency in online course design, development, support, and delivery
Collaborate with academic leaders to coordinate timelines and resources for online course and program development
Analyze usage and effectiveness of Walsh University's Learning Management System and other tools which support online learning and their impact on student success and retention
Monitor ongoing compliance with HLC accreditation, state authorization, and ADA standards in online/digital classrooms
Evaluate and implement technology and support solutions which foster student success and retention in both online and traditional classes
Represent Walsh University as Quality Matters Coordinator and Course Review Manager in QM meetings and subscriber-managed reviews
Identify emerging trends and conduct needs analyses to determine opportunities for new programming, services, and faculty professional development to support online learning
Build coalitions and online learning programs with diverse constituencies, both internally and externally, including OPM and Consortium partnerships
Supervise E-learning/Instructional Design team
Administer department operating budget

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:
Education: Master's degree in online education, instructional technology, instructional design, adult/continuing education, educational leadership, or related fields required.
Work Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in online learning in an academic setting. Quality Matters experience required; QM certifications (Peer Reviewer, Master Reviewer, Course Review Manager, etc.) preferred. Experience in using learning management systems, web conferencing platforms, multimedia tools, and emerging technologies required. Online teaching experience required. Experience with accreditation, state authorization, and other regulations a plus.
Skills and abilities:
Quality Matters experience required; QM certifications (Peer Reviewer, Master Reviewer, Course Review Manager, etc.) preferred.
Experience in using learning management systems, web conferencing platforms, multimedia tools, and emerging technologies required.
Online teaching experience required.
Experience with accreditation, state authorization, and other regulations a plus.
