JOB SUMMARY: St. Patrick of Heatherdowns is a dynamic Catholic community seeking to grow our youth ministry program. The Youth Minister position is for those who are passionate about helping young people know Christ and his Church. The Youth Minister will facilitate the day to day operations of youth ministry and all activities for junior high (7th & 8th grades) and high school (9th -12th grades) youth at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Parish. Occasional programming for youth grades 4-6 should also be offered. The Youth Minister will also assist with Confirmation programming/retreat and Liturgy. The Youth Minister will work under the guidance of the Director of Religious Formation (DRF) in visioning, planning, and professional formation. The guiding vision is that our parish is a place to belong for all youth!
REQUIREMENTS
A faithful Catholic in good standing
Living an exemplary Christian life so as to serve as a positive role model
Basic knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and Catholic theology
Computer as well as audio/visual literate
Must be certified or able to be certified in the Virtus program in the Diocese of Toledo prior to start date and maintain status throughout duration of employment
Available during evening and weekend hours with some flexible daytime office hours
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Theology or Education degree
Connects with and relates to a wide variety of people
Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing
Able to motivate others, encourage faith, and build community
Able to organize, manage time, and maintain a budget
Able to recruit, instruct, and supervise volunteers
Experience volunteering and/or working in a parish setting
Able to delegate and empower others to use their gifts
Experience and comfort level giving talks and/or teaching on matters of faith to youth ages 10-17.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Regular meetings with DFF for professional formation and planning
Facilitates weekly youth activities including spiritual growth, service, and community building.
Creates opportunities for outreach and invitation to youth
Assists in recruiting and forming a core team of volunteers
Facilitates Jr. High Sacramental Formation Discussion Sessions, Confirmation retreat and assists with youth liturgies as needed.
*Other duties may be assigned
The Youth Minister is expected to work 37-40 hours per week.
The Position is year round.
