St Helen Catholic Academy, located in Howard Beach, New York is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn. The Academy is seeking a principal for the academic school year 2025-2026. St. Helen Catholic Academy serves approximately 435 students in grades Pre-K 3 through eighth. The parish school was opened in 1967 and became an academy in 2014.
Job Qualifications: Candidates must be practicing Roman Catholics who actively participate in the sacramental life of the Church and committed to the mission of Catholic education who possess:
• New York State certification in School Administration and Supervision or the equivalent. • A master's degree conferred by a college or university registered by the New York State Board of Regents or accredited by an appropriate regional accrediting agency. • A minimum of 10 years of successful teaching experience in a Catholic, private or public school setting. General Information: Start Date: July 1, 2025 Salary: $95,000 - $130,000. Salary commensurate with education and experience. Job Description: The principal as spiritual and academic leader collaborates with all stakeholders to develop, articulate, and implement the mission and vision of the academy fostering a strong Catholic identity. As the school leader, the principal will • Develop, advocate, and enact a shared mission and vision which fosters a high-quality Catholic education, academic success and the well-being of each student. • Collaborate with parish clergy, academy faculty and the Board of Trustees to foster a strong Catholic identity through the Academy's mission. • Develop and support intellectually rigorous and coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, and assessment in order to promote academic success for each student. • Foster a professional community of teachers and other professional staff through assistance, advisement, mentoring and evaluation. • Support the growth of teachers through professional development. • Partner with the Office of Catholic Education in implementation of diocesan policy, curriculum and accreditation requirements. • Manage school operations, budget and resources to ensure the Academy's long-term financial sustainability. • Act as an agent of continuous improvement to promote the Academy's success and that of each student in our care. • Engage families and the community in meaningful, reciprocal, and mutually beneficial ways to promote each student's academic success and well-being. • Serve as building principal for the Pre-K for All program.
