Fontbonne Hall Academy Director of Development
Fontbonne Hall Academy, is an all-girls Catholic High School located in the Bay Ridge section of
Brooklyn, NY. Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, NY, in 1937, Fontbonne has
provided generations of young women with a rigorous and well-rounded education, and
continues to encourage academic curiosity, personal creativity, cultural awareness, and
spiritual growth.
Job Summary
The Director of Development reports to the school principal. The Director oversees all
fundraising efforts and builds relationships with individuals and organizations to secure the
resources needed to ensure the mission of Fontbonne Hall Academy. The Director manages a
staff of two development officers. This is a FT position.
Responsibilities:
Planning and implementing the overall fundraising strategy for Fontbonne Hall Academy, in
collaboration with the principal and the development committee of the board of trustees.
Setting the financial goals for development and creating a budget that reflects and supports
these goals.
Producing marketing materials and fundraising literature for distribution to former donors
and potential new donors
Researching potential new sources of funding and applying for grants from foundations and
corporations.
In collaboration with the principal, cultivating relationships with individuals and
organizations to secure, steward, and grow fundraising support.
Building lasting relationships with major and longstanding donors, keeping them appraised
of their impact on Fontbonne as an institution and community.
Managing the development officer, and any future additional development staff, including
student workers responsible for data entry, gift processing, and administrative tasks
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, plus 3 to 5 years professional experience, preferably
within an educational institution.
Excellent attention to detail, as well as organizational, multitasking, and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to engage people in-person, on
the phone, and in writing.
Possessing a high level of energy, creativity, and resourcefulness, consistently
demonstrating initiative.
High degree of comfort meeting with high level donors and prospects, and directly soliciting
gifts.
Ability to manage time and prioritize workload, functioning both independently and as part
of a team.
Excellent computer skills; proficient with social media and basic website editing
Prior experience using DonorPerfect or similar donor software preferred
Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends when necessary

Salary Range (based on experience)
$85,000 to $90,000
