Fontbonne Hall, an all-girls' Catholic high school located in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, NY is hiring one full-time teacher of Spanish and Italian for the 2023-2024 school year. Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood in 1937, Fontbonne aims to provide each student with a well-rounded education as well as encourage academic curiosity, personal creativity, intellectual risk-taking, and cultural awareness.
The successful candidate should possess:
a Master's Degree (or certification) the subject matter, or is expected to begin working towards a Master's Degree, to be completed within five years
a minimum of one year of experience teaching
strong subject matter knowledge and a passion for teaching Spanish and Italian
Familiarity with the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages
commitment to the mission, vision and values of Fontbonne, which include a willingness and ability to work within a culturally diverse environment for the betterment of the education of the young women in our charge
ability to prepare and implement engaging lessons based on our Spanish language curriculum, with preference given to those who can also teach Italian
membership in a professional organization for the purpose of ongoing professional development
a willingness to participate in extracurricular events
excellent time management and organization
effective written and verbal communication skills
