Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church in New Hyde Park, New York, is looking for a full-time, zealous, self-motivating Director of Evangelization and Catechesis.

Position Summary
The Director of Evangelization and Catechesis is responsible for developing, implementing and directing evangelization and catechetical programs to engage and empower members of the church and school communities to form and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and to increase their knowledge, understanding and love of the Roman Catholic Faith. The Director supports, accompanies, equips and leads in all areas of evangelization and catechesis and works in close collaboration with the pastor, church staff and committees.

Responsibilities
Develop, implement and direct a comprehensive evangelization and catechetical program for children and parents of students in the faith formation program of the church.
Develop creative approaches for faith formation and evangelization for children, youth, families and adults.
Coordinate the reception of the Sacraments of Penance, First Holy Communion and Confirmation for the children in the faith formation program.
Teach children and parents in the faith formation program on Sunday mornings.
Coordinate programs for ongoing adult evangelization and faith formation.
Manage the recruitment, training, and assessment of volunteers, catechists and other staff members involved in the implementation of the programs.
Participate in church staff meetings and other relevant meetings.
Prepare and manage budgets for evangelization and catechetical programs.
Implement and oversee the Thoughtful and Safe: Life Lessons program for children.
Work closely with the principal, staff, students, and parents of Notre Dame Catholic School, including teaching theology daily part-time in the school.
Complete additional duties as assigned by the pastor.

Requirements
The candidate must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship is made manifest through regular reception of the Sacraments, reading of Sacred Scripture, and a life of personal prayer.
The candidate must be a faith-filled Catholic in good standing with the Church, with a deep knowledge of the Catholic Faith, capable of articulating the Gospel in a compelling manner through words and personal witness.
The candidate must have a bachelor's degree, preferably in theology, pastoral studies, religious instruction or another related field.
Have a minimum of two (2) years' experience working in the field of evangelization, faith formation and/or leadership at the parish level.
Must have knowledge in the processes of evangelization and lifelong catechesis with excellent interpersonal communication skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The candidate should be a dynamic speaker who can teach the Catholic Faith in an understandable way to both children and adults.
While the candidate will have administrative assistance, the candidate is to have strong skills in organization and strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Zoom.
The candidate must be able to frequently lift/move 20 pounds.

Additional Information
This position is salary based and approximately 40 hours per week.
The work schedule is Sunday through Thursday.
The candidate is to have availability to work certain nights and weekends throughout the year.
