Middle School Religion Teacher
Beginning August 24, 2023
Position: Middle School Religion Teacher
Reports to: Middle School Division Head and Religion Department Chairperson
FLSA: Exempt, full-time
Salary Range: $62,000-$85,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience
The MS Religion teacher will join a highly collaborative and mission centered faculty. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest in middle school education, enthusiastic about teaching, and the ability to relate and communicate effectively and appropriately with middle school female students.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with members of the Theology department to share best practices, plan active lessons, and create instructional aids
Teach grades 7 and 8 religion (Church History, Catholic Social Teaching, Morality)
Prepare students in religion class and coordinate Confirmation for Grade 8
Lead grade 7 and 8 retreats
Campus Ministry (Middle School chapel services, masses, and grade level retreats)
Attend department and faculty meetings
Communicate with families through email, phone, and conferences
Support students and division by covering for emergency classroom coverage, other assignments as needed
Requirements:
The MS Religion teacher is actively involved with the Mission and Goals of Sacred Heart education with students and adults alike.
Candidates must be Roman Catholic
MA degree, Religious Studies or Theology preferred
Previous teaching experience preferred
Knowledge of Catholic Church teachings and USCCB guidelines
Commit to addressing social justice, diversity, equity, and anti-racist, anti-bias education in the curriculum through lessons, actions, and discussions
Proficiency and adaptability with instructional technology
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications skills
Positive team player with a desire to contribute and share your gifts and talents with the students and administration of the school.
