Mechanic

Inspection, maintenance, and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment; Replaces, repairs, and maintains operating parts of automobiles, trucks, and service equipment; Maintains and repairs electrical and other complex components of equipment requiring specialized knowledge and experience. Uses welding equipment for modification/repair of equipment/parts; part fabrication; Maintains records on repairs; Performs related duties.

Desired Knowledge, Skills AND Abilities:

Knowledge of gasoline and diesel motors, methods, practices and procedures of repairing and overhauling automobiles, trucks, buses, and mission equipment, braking systems, hydraulic systems, pumping systems, safety practices; skill in mechanical techniques, use of hand and power tools, welding techniques and practices; ability to detect mechanical problems with automotive equipment, interpret technical manuals, observe and recognize emergency repair problems and take the appropriate actions, work independently, follow written and verbal instructions.
