Saint James School is a co-ed Catholic elementary school located in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen. We serve approximately 320 students in grades Pre-K (3 year olds) through eighth. Job Description:

Seeking a Vice Principal who will support the mission, philosophy, and objectives of Saint James School fostering a Catholic atmosphere by serving as a spiritual, educational, and managerial leader. Reporting to the Principal, assist in the planning and organization of academic program goals and help in maintaining a positive learning environment. Serving on the administrative team, help preserve positive relationships within the school community and assist the Principal in managing the school. Helping in the supervision of the day-to-day operations of the school, provide leadership and assistance in the delivery of educational programs, activities, curriculum guidelines, and all other instructional objectives. Assuming the role of Acting Principal in the absence of the Principal, responsible for all aspects of the school.

Responsibilities:
• Promotes and helps maintain Catholic identity within the school through liturgical celebrations, faith development, integration of Gospel values, and the practice of Christian service
• Serves as a liaison to parents and as a point of contact regarding questions or concerns
• Proactively manages relationships with parents
• Responsible for all facets of student discipline and intervention
• Oversees the activities of the Home School Association and other parent groups
• Serves as the primary contact for academic support
• Acts as a member of emergency command during emergencies and serves as the primary point of contact in developing and communicating emergency protocols
• Promotes school activities and achievements
• Oversees athletics and school programs
• Assists in the execution of a comprehensive curriculum through the use of a variety of pedagogical strategies
• Assists in supervising instruction and helps evaluate the overall effectiveness of the academic program by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
• Assists with development and administration of disciplinary procedures
• Assists in the financial management of the school
• Assists in the marketing, communication, and advancement activities

Requirements/Skills:

Education:
o Bachelor's degree with leadership experience, or Master's degree with an education focus and teaching credential preferred
o New Jersey Principal Standard Certificate or a Certificate of Eligibility for Principal preferred
o Three years of instructional experience
o Five years of professional experience in an educational environment

Religion:
o Practicing Catholic in good standing with a commitment to ongoing formation in catechetical and spiritual leadership development of the Catholic Church
o Provides proof of existing Catechist Certification or completes Catechist training and provides proof of certification prior to hiring

o Abides by and enforces policies set forth in the Diocese of Metuchen, St James Church, Saint James School Faculty and Parent-Student handbooks
o Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills
o Effective organizational and planning skills

o Shows aptitude for effectively analyzing information
o Maintains strict confidentiality and professional ethics
o Ability to work independently and delegate responsibilities

o Supervises and supports staff

Technical Skills:
o Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, computerized software, and in technology usage and applications

Schedule:
o Required to work a full school day on premises with a 12 month contract
o Required to work in standard school and office conditions
o Required to work some nights and weekends
