Koinonia Academy is looking for an enthusiastic elementary classroom teacher who loves the Lord, is willing and able to teach in the Classical method, and infuses the Catholic Faith in all of their teaching. Applicants should ideally have a background in early childhood education or equivalent. Experience with or an interest in classical education is also beneficial. Novice teachers who demonstrate a love of learning and a determination to continue growing professionally and spiritually will be considered. We provide ongoing formation and supportive mentoring to our faculty. Ideal candidates demonstrate a willingness to learn, rapport with students and colleagues, and an understanding of the mission of the school: to inspire courageous lives of personal holiness, virtue, and wisdom through authentic Catholic Education.

Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher preferred
- Understanding of, and agreement with the mission, philosophy, and pedagogy of Catholic Classical Education at Koinonia Academy
Experience
- Teaching experience is strongly preferred, with exceptions granted for outstanding candidates with demonstrated teaching gifts and a call to the teaching vocation,
- Ability to teach well, as demonstrated by references, a demo lesson, and classroom management skills,
- Mastery of subject matters to be taught, as demonstrated by references, education, and a willingness to learn and implement the pedagogy of a Catholic Classical Liberal Arts Education.

Job Responsibilities with Students:
- Learn and implement the Science of Reading and Singapore math
- Demonstrate a passion for faith education, history, quality literature, and integrated learning.
- Display a genuine love for God, love of scripture, and love of learning
- Pray for each student in the class and model a positive Christian demeanor.
- Plan teaching schedule on a daily, weekly, semester, and yearly basis, with the help of the Lead teacher and Head of School
- Work through the curriculum at an appropriate pace, with ongoing assessment of how each child is progressing through the material
- Use formal and informal assessment tools to measure students' progress
- Individualize instruction according to each child's needs while moving everyone toward class high standards of achievement
- Identify and address academic or disciplinary problems, document situations and/or alert the Lead Teacher/Head of School or parents when appropriate
- Respect the confidentiality of students, families, and colleagues by using the highest degree of discretion in all communication
- Complete administrative tasks to maintain smooth operation of classroom
- Present completion of Protecting God's Children prior to beginning teaching
- Complete the Praesedium Sexual Harassment Certification prior to beginning teaching
With Parents:
- View parents as students' primary teachers
- View parent - teacher communication as highly important and valuable; express to parents a commitment to teach and nurture their child
- Communicate with parents when issues arise with their child, whether in academics, discipline, or other matters
- Make parents aware of what is being taught at school through work sent home and other means
With Other Teachers:
- Work with other teachers to sharpen each other's teaching, share wisdom, and share experience
- Contribute to a cooperative and collegial atmosphere among teachers and staff
- Participate in teacher mentoring relationships
With the Head of School
- Bring discipline or academic problems to attention of those leaders early, keeping them abreast of general progress and specific problems that arise
- Participate in training, prayer life of KA, and other meetings and initiatives
- Respect and upholds school policies and standards delineated in the faculty and student handbooks and in faculty training
- Perform both teaching and non-teaching tasks with attention to quality, detail, timeliness, and professionalism
