Associate Director of Music

General Description:
The role of the Associate Director of Music is to assist and collaborate with the Director of Worship in the musical planning and execution of liturgies and parish events with music. This position shares pastoral responsibility for the facilitation of our parish's worship life by coordinating and providing a quality liturgical experience which celebrates and strengthens our mission statement to Worship God, Serve Others and Make Disciples.

Qualifications/Skills:
The ideal candidate:
• possesses piano/keyboard and/or guitar skills
• possesses versatile vocal competence (solo and choral) to lead congregational song and self-accompany in a variety of musical styles (contemporary praise and worship, pop, classical)
• is a baptized Catholic with experience music directing at a church and strong familiarity with Roman Catholic liturgy and rites

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
• Accompany or sing (solo or as part of an ensemble) at scheduled weekend and holy day liturgies
• Assist in recruiting, managing, planning and rehearsing with our growing Music Ministry
• attend rehearsals with the Festival Chorale and band
• run rehearsals or sectional rehearsals when necessary
• assist in the liturgical planning and execution of sacramental celebrations and other parish events (weddings, funerals, confirmations, communions, baptisms, faith formation events, cornerstone retreats, etc) )
• substitute musically for the Director of Worship
• create practice tracks for choir and vocalists
• prepare music and report all music copyright/licensing requirements
• participate as part of a collaborative pastoral ministry team, including the parish Worship Board and the parish staff

Education/Experience:
• Undergraduate degree preferred
• 2+ years of experience in music ministry along with a love, respect and understanding of the Catholic Church
