Spanish Teacher

Essential Duties
Teaches Spanish to 5-8th Grades
Develops students' knowledge, skills and abilities in comprehending, speaking, reading and writing Spanish
Develops students understanding and appreciation of the native culture of the countries where the language is the primary means of communication
Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction
Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records
Performs other related tasks in cooperation with the Principal and Staff

Qualifications Required
Bachelor's degree in the Spanish language, literature, history and/or culture preferred
Hold a New Jersey Teacher of Spanish Certificate (Standard, CE or CEAS Certification) preferred
Demonstrated experience at both introductory and intermediate levels preferred
Complete command of the language
Strong background, beyond the language, in Spanish cultural traditions, history and literature preferred
Proven ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, and to communicate and lead through strong interpersonal skills
